Omega (Cyrillic)

Omega (Ѡ ѡ or Ѡ ѡ; italics: Ѡ w or Ѡ ѡ) is a letter used in the early Cyrillic alphabet. Its name and form are derived from the Greek letter Omega (Ω ω).

Unlike Greek, the Slavic languages had only a single /o/ sound, so Omega was little used compared to the letter On (О о), descended from the Greek letter Omicron. In the older ustav writing Omega was used mainly for its numeric value of 800, and rarely appeared even in Greek words. In later semi-ustav manuscripts it was used for decorative purposes, along with the broad version (Ꙍ ꙍ) as well as the Broad On (Ѻ ѻ).

Modern Church Slavonic has developed strict rules for the use of these letterforms.

Another variation of o is the ornate or beautiful omega, used as an interjection, “O!”. It is represented in Unicode 5.1 by the misnamed character omega with titlo (Ѽ ѽ).

Omega (camera)

Omega is the name of various medium-format cameras and enlargers. The Simmon Brothers, known for their line of enlargers, built the original Simmon Omega cameras in the United States. These rangefinder cameras took 6x7cm photographs on 120 roll film. Later, Konica manufactured the Koni Omega line. The last models, including the Rapid Omega 200, came from Mamiya. This line had interchangeable lenses, including a 58 (or 60) mm wide-angle, a 90 mm normal lens, a 135 mm portrait lens, and a 180 mm telephoto. A close-up adapter was popular with wedding photographers.

Another line, the Omegaflex, was a twin-lens reflex camera. Its lenses and accessories were not interchangeable with those from the Omega line. The Omegaflex took 6x7 rectangular pictures on 120 roll film.

Backs: The Omegaflex film holder interchanges with the Omega M, 100 (Press 2 in Japan) and 200, and permits mid-roll changes on the Omegaflex, M, and 200. The earlier Koni Omega Rapid (Press in Japan) film holder is not compatible with the above, and does not permit mid-roll changes.

Oficial Spartan

Oficial Spartan is the current ring name of Victor Manuel Montés (born July 29, 1975 in Guerrero, Mexico), who is a Mexican luchador enmascarado, or masked professional wrestler currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG) as a part of the Los Oficiales Elite group alongside Oficial Factor and Oficial Rayan. Montés previously worked under a number of other ring names including Omega and Arlequín Rojo, but they are not officially acknowledged as the enmascarado character is promoted as a separate entity from Montés' previous characters as is often the case when a Mexican wrestler adopts a new masked character.

Professional wrestling career

Victor Manuel Montés began his professional wrestling career in 1990 and worked under various enmascarado (masked) characters such as Halcon de Fuego ("Fire Falcon"), Guerrero Atomico ("Atomic Warrior") and Cepillito ("Brush").

Omega (2002–2004)

Outpost (video game)

Outpost is a video game developed and published by Sierra On-Line in 1994. The game was noteworthy for having a hard science fiction approach, with one of the main designers being a former NASA scientist.

Outpost was released simultaneously for DOS and Windows 3.1, and was also released for the Macintosh. It was followed by a loosely related sequel, Outpost 2: Divided Destiny.

Story

A massive asteroid named Vulcan's Hammer is detected to be on a collision course with Earth, and all attempts to divert it from this path have failed. The last attempt, firing a large nuclear warhead at the asteroid, actually ended up splitting it not into five chunks (which would have averted disaster) as humanity hoped, but rather two asteroids. Now, instead of destroying the earth, it will simply wipe out nearly all life on Earth's surface. Extinction is not an option, and so a mission is organized to create a colony on a world elsewhere in the galaxy as the last hope for mankind's survival. The player is in charge of that mission.

Outpost Firewall Pro

Outpost Firewall Pro is a software-based personal firewall package developed by Agnitum (founded in 1999 in St. Petersburg, Russia). It is available in both paid and freeware versions. Paid version by default has 5 language packs - English, German, French, Spanish and Russian. Free version has only English interface and has not been updated since April 2009; it was replaced by Outpost Security Suite FREE in November 2010.

General description

Outpost Firewall Pro (personal firewall) is designed to monitor incoming and outgoing network traffic on Windows machines. Like most advanced PC firewalls, Outpost goes beyond monitoring internet traffic and also monitors application behavior in an attempt to stop malicious software covertly infecting Windows systems. Agnitum calls this technology "Component Control" and "Anti-Leak Control" (included into HIPS-based "Host Protection" module). The product also includes a spyware scanner and monitor, together with pop-up blocker/spyware filter for Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox (Outpost's web surfing security tools include black-lists for IPs and URLs, unwanted web page element filters and ad-blocking. The technology altogether is known as "Web control").

Outpost (1944 film)

Outpost is an animated short film, directed by Chuck Jones and first released in August, 1944. It is part of the Private Snafu series. As in all the Snafu films, the voice of Private Snafu is performed by Mel Blanc.

Plot

A narrator informs viewers that the United States maintain far-flung military outposts, manned by diligent sentinels. The film then introduces an outpost on a tiny Pacific island, where under its single palm tree lies the local sentinel, Snafu. His only companion is a local bird. Snafu loudly complains about his 249 days on the island, and a message coming over the radio informs him that his 249th request for a transfer has been denied.

Snafu and this bird get to sleep and dream about girls. Their dreams get mixed up and irate Snafu wakes up, threatening to break the bird for insubordination. The dejected bird locates a floating can of food, marked Pickled Fish with Rice". On the bottom it says "Imperial Japanese Navy." Snafu is not interested in the bird's finding, and the bird buries it. When American authorities learn about the can, the bird digs it up and Snafu reports its Japanese markings.
